The docuseries Love on the Spectrum follows seven young adults on the autism spectrum as they take their first steps into the world of dating. The show explores each person’s unique experience of autism, giving the audience a much broader understanding of neurodiversity. We wanted to create music that tapped into the idea of showing love in different ways from different perspectives.
This show has a lot of heart so we chose to create the score with small ensembles to explore the intricacies of each character and compose pieces that were warm, authentic and a bit playful.
Similar to the bumpy nature of the dates on screen, the music stops and starts often to reflect that awkwardness.
