Hardball is a comedy series that follows fish-out-of-water Mikey on a quest to become the “sweetest-bestest-acest” handball champ that Western Sydney has ever seen.
Handball is a central aspect of the show so we used the sound of small rubber balls as a percussive instrument within the music to add character. We also wrote particular character themes such as for Mikey’s nemesis Tiffany and his auntie, aptly named “Auntie”. We gave Tiffany a pop diva sound to show her brash nature and created a signature ‘call to arms’ vocal lic that her minions sang as they followed her around. We put a modern twist on a 50s Rock ‘n’ Roll swagger for Auntie the mechanic.
